Vijayawada Peanut(Palli chutney) Recipe

Native Andhra Homestyle Groundnut Chutney (Pachadi) side dish with idly, Dosa, and Uthappam without this Telugu Families breakfast is incomplete. Sometimes my friends and my wife tease me either you eat the main breakfast (idly dosa) or Chutney (side dish). In my childhood, my granny used to prepare this side dish in a jiffy without fail by using rolu. I love this chutney with ghee and soft Idly or dosa its heavenly Breakfast. That is the reason I spent a good amount of time and prepared this dish for our channel viewers.

Ingredients
- 2 tbsp Groundnut Oil
- 1 cup Peanuts (approximately 150grms)
- 4-5 Dry Green Chilies
- 1-inch Ginger Chopped
- 2-3 cloves Garlic (small ones)
- Very small size Tamarind
- Salt to taste
For Tempering
- 2 tbsp Groundnut Oil
- 1 tsp Mustard Seeds
- 1/2 tsp Cumin Seeds
- 1 tsp Urad Dal
- 1 tsp Bengal Gram Dal
- 3 to 5 Curry Leaves
- 1to2 Dry red chili
How to make Andhra Home style Groundnut (Palli chutney)
Steps
- Heat Groundnut oil in a pan.(Any frying oil is fine)
- Add peanuts and fry until slightly browned.
- Remove them in a plate.
- Add Green chili, ginger, garlic in the pan and fry for 3-4 minutes.
- Add them in the plate with peanuts.
- Let the Groundnuts and other ingredients cool.
- Transfer them in a grinder along with tamarind and salt.
- After 2-minute grinder to get nice smooth texture add milk and water
- For tempering, heat oil in a pan.
- Once the oil is hot, add mustard seeds, cumin seeds and let them crackle for a few seconds. (1 teaspoon Ghee will give additional flavor)
- Add urad dal and fry until browned.
- Add curry leaves.
- Pour the tempering over the chutney and mix well.
- Serve the chutney with dosa, idli or Uthapam
Important Notes:
*If you like Coriander seeds add 1 Teaspoon at step 4, you will feel more flavor chutney normally in *Hotels they will add in that level.
*If you like to Add chopped coconut small pieces that also can try to this at step 7.
Some time whenever we feel bored eating same chutney, we use to make these changes to this dish.
